What To Do After Your Vacation Has Ended
Your Vacation is over…
What do you do next? Here are a few suggestions on what to do when your vacation has ended.
Unpacking is essential. Make sure you check all the tiny pockets in your luggage to make sure there are no dirty clothes, leftover food products or spare shoes. It can be a rude awaking if the next time you open your suitcase, you are greeted with a less than fresh scent. Maybe try adding a dryer sheet or a lavender sachet in the empty suitcase to keep it smelling nice. Are you unpacking clean clothes? Maybe you packed a bit too much and you can reassess your packing strategy for the next time, cutting down on the weight of your luggage. That means more souvenirs!
If you are like many of us, you might have packed an extra bag just for souvenirs. If that’s the case, it’s time to go through them and figure out what’s for you and what’s for family and friends. We recommend finding a relatively large space (maybe your dining room table or an office), taking everything out of your souvenir bag and start sorting. Having everything out at once will help you see what you bought, what you want to keep, and what you want to pass on to the close people in your life.
Next, it’s time to check and make sure your luggage is in good condition. It can be a hassle if the wheels are sticking or if that big zipper keeps getting stuck. If there is something wrong, you have time now to price out your options, see what is on sale and take advantage of that! Remember to update the luggage tag on your new suitcase with your home address.
Make sure you store your travel documents such as your passport in a safe location that will be easy to find for the next trip. Having everything in one place like a fireproof safe means it will be secure and you will always know where to find it. Repetition is key.
Take a trip to the grocery store. Chances are, the last time you went shopping, you bought less because you were leaving. It is time to stock up again on your perishable food items and make sure you have sustenance for your normal, day-to-day life.
Plan some down time for yourself. If you are like most people, you may feel like you need a vacation after your vacation. With all of the fun experiences you just had, take some time for yourself and reflect on the joys of your recent experiences. Take the time to organize your transition back to your normal life and not take on too much at once. You want to preserve the benefits from your wonderful vacation. Make sure you get a good night’s rest and drink plenty of water. People tend to be a bit dehydrated after a plane ride or select vacation beverages. A multi-vitamin or a vitamin C supplement may help in warding off any unwanted conditions that may have been picked along the way.
And above all, it is time to start planning your next vacation!
