Cruising The Baltic With Azamara Club Cruises

I recently cruised the Baltic Sea on the Azamara Journey. The twelve night itinerary was outstanding in every way from the ports of call, to my experience onboard. Though I had enjoyed sailing on Azamara Club Cruises previously, this cruise was an excellent reminder of what an outstanding product Azamara truly is. The passengers were well traveled, with many repeat guests who love the Azamara lifestyle.

Azamara, true to its tagline, is most certainly for guests who “love travel”. Destinations, like the Baltic Sea, are the primary focus, with long days and overnights in port, and very convenient docking, generally right in the heart of the city. It feels as though you are stepping out of a floating hotel each time you go ashore! The complimentary AzAmazing Evening events offered on most cruises is generally destination-focused and truly amazing.

Azamara’s port-intense itineraries attract guests who are seeking enriching experiences in the destinations. There was a good mix of international travelers onboard, which I consider another great benefit to the American traveler. Guest lecturers are often featured on Azamara Club Cruises. On the cruise just prior to my boarding of the recently renovated ship, Lech Walesa was the guest lecturer. Lech was President of Poland from 1990-1995 and the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1983. His lecture brought quite a crowd of listeners!

The Azamara crew was comfortably engaging, smiling and conversant, without exception. I felt this previously on Azamara, but if anything, the whole crew appeared to love their jobs and life on the ship just as much. Another very unique feature that makes Azamara standout is the fact that the staff is empowered to make decisions on the spot that enhances the guest experience. In my opinion, Azamara Journey has no rival when it comes to the friendliness and accessibility of all the onboard crew. From housekeeping to the Bridge staff, through to the food and beverage staff (including Monica, the executive chef) a uniquely comfortable atmosphere is set throughout the ship… not unlike the perfect private club.
